roasted grapefruit with cinnamon and sugar
We got our asses kicked by farming today. I blame this really delicious yet not very filling breakfast for the looooong day we had.
The first time I tried roasted grapefruit was in Dallas, Texas for a friends wedding. I fell head-over-heels in love with this tasty and refreshing treat. It pairs so well with a cup of coffee. However, the last time I ate this I was not about to spend 10 hours doing physical labor. I have no one but myself to blame for my horrible day at Tumbleweed Farm.
Taylor and I have been farming for 4 years now. We should know better than to leave the house with only grapefruit filling our stomachs. It was a silly mistake. We enjoyed the grapefruit so much that we almost forgot what kind day lie ahead of us. I think bacon and eggs would have been a more appropriate option for today.
Hunger pains and all we managed to get a lot done. I'm too exhausted to get into the details but we are pretty proud of what we accomplished. And hey, there were no tears shed today only smiles. Major win!
We celebrated with a few beers and a gorgeous mountain view.
Did I mention it was 80 degrees today? Are we really in Oregon?
Alright, back to the roasted grapefruit. I haven't really promoted this dish very well but the truth is this is more of a snack and not a meal. It tastes amazing but should not be eaten alone when a long day of physical labor is involved. I would highly recommend a side of bacon and eggs with this treat! Regardless it tasted AMAZING! Dig in my friends.
